Hot mix asphalt materials mixture design and construction

Hot mix asphalt materials mixture design and construction can be used for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA). The book should also prove useful to the practicing engineer.

The second edition of Hot mix asphalt materials mixture design and construction was published in 1996.

The primary purpose of the second edition was to include information on stone matrix Asphalt, Superpave performance grade (PG) asphalt binders, Superpave mixed design, and asphalt modifiers.

Other portions of Hot mix asphalt materials mixture design and construction were reviewed and modified where necessary to bring each chapter up to date with the latest technology.

The modifications were prepared by E. Ray Brown and Prithvi S. Kandhal. The major modification was reviewed by Jon Epps, Dale Decker and John Bukowski.

Lois Flowers typed the revised manuscript and made corrections as needed. Rajib Mallick revied the index.

Much research is currently underway to validate the research from the Strategic Highway Research Program. Other research is underway to evaluate laboratory and field wheel tracking devices.

As Hot mix asphalt materials mixture design and construction is completed, it is anticipated that the textbook will again need to be revised.

It is expected that the third edition of the book will be initiated in approximately five years.
